Feba Francis is a climate scientist specializing in polar climate variability, large‑scale atmospheric circulation, and oceanic drivers. She is currently a Postdoctoral Researcher at Laboratoire de Météorologie Dynamique (LMD), École Polytechnique in Paris, where she investigates Southern Ocean sea ice and Antarctic precipitation using isotope‑enabled climate models. Her research contributes to understanding how large-scale circulation patterns influence polar climate variability and the global water cycle.
Feba earned her PhD in Climate Science from the University of Hyderabad, India, focusing on decadal variability and prediction of tropical climate drivers such as the El Niño–Southern Oscillation (ENSO) and the Indian Ocean Dipole (IOD). Her doctoral work advanced the scientific community’s understanding of the decadal prediction skill of the IOD, a key factor in regional climate forecasting. She later held a postdoctoral position at
Université catholique de Louvain, Belgium, where she modeled Antarctic sea ice variability and explored its links to global climate systems.
In 2015, UN member states agreed to 17 global Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) to end poverty, protect the planet and ensure prosperity for all. This person’s work contributes towards the following SDG(s):
