Kostas Danas is a CNRS research director and associate professor at the Laboratory of Solid Mechanics (LMS), in the Department of Mechanics of the Ecole polytechnique (IP Paris). He obtained his engineering degree in mechanical engineering at the University of Thessaly and his doctorate at the Polytechnic School. His main research interests are in the field of solid mechanics and composite materials. He is currently working on the experimental, numerical and theoretical analysis of microstructured active elastomers and their instabilities as well as on the modeling and fracture of metallic and 3D printed polymeric porous materials. Kostas is the laureate of the bronze medal of the Centre national de la recherche scientifique (CNRS) in 2017 and of the Jean Mandel prize (2019) awarded twice a year for excellence in mechanical research to young scientists (under 40 years old) working in France.
