After completing a thesis in solid mechanics at the Lille Mechanics Laboratory, Laurence Bodelot completed a post-doctorate at the Graduate Aerospace Laboratories of the California Institute of Technology (Caltech). In 2012, she joined the École Polytechnique as an assistant professor in the Mechanics Department. She also conducts research in the Solid Mechanics Laboratory, focusing on metallic alloys, smart elastomers and nano-architected sensors. In particular, she studies multi-scale deformation mechanisms and multiphysics couplings within these materials and structures. Its work has applications in fields such as transport, man-machine interfaces and the environment.
