Abstract

During the past twenty years, extensive studies were conducted to sharpen current pulse on IES (Inductive Energy Storage) drivers using the well-known Plasma Opening Switch (POS) scheme. Due to the emergence of new power amplification concepts, Flux Compression (FC), LL schema (Chuvatin), etc, new opportunities appear for improving IES generators operation. In order to evaluate and compare the performances of three of these schemes (POS, LL and FC), this paper proposes a system analysis based on a 0D modelling. The system configuration is common for the three schemes: a RLC generator the power amplification scheme studied a Z-pinch load.
