Abstract

Low divergence 1.55 μm monomode tapered lasers for 2.5 Gbit/s operation were designed. All lasers show floor free BER results with a 11 dB ER. Using a simple efficiency criteria, a 100% yield for 2.5 Gbit/s floor free transmission with an extinction ratio as high as 14 dB was demonstrated.
