Abstract

A variety of 4-substituted 1,2,3,4-tetrahydroisoquinolin-1-ones 6 can be prepared by a two step radical sequence: intermolecular xanthate transfer addition to an N-allylbenzamide followed by cyclisation onto the aromatic ring.
