Abstract
A far wing corrective factor X for CH4 lines broadened by H2 is proposed. It has been deduced from laboratory spectra measured in the v3 band region at various temperatures between 100 and 300 K. Its quality is demonstrated by comparisons of synthetic spectra with laboratory experiments as well as with the spectrum of the jovian atmosphere observed by ISO.
