A negative answer to the δ-Lüroth problem in two variables

Abstract

A simple example shows that the δ-Lüroth problem in two variables admits a negative answer: we exhibit a subextension of a differentially transcendental field extension of degree 2 of an algebraically closed differential field, which is not differentially transcendental.
