Abstract

In this contribution, a single-layer metasurface absorber is proposed for collecting the ambient radio frequency energy at 2.45 GHz. A design methodology is proposed to optimize the finite array performance. An absorber of 4×5 cells is designed and simulated to demonstrate that this methodology enables an improvement of the capturing efficiency from 65% to 90%. The proposed finite array is fabricated and its capturing efficiency is measured in order to be compared to a simulation.
