Abstract
This paper presents a new and practical adaptive fuzzy control scheme which is implemented by adjusting only the fuzzy input and output scaling factors in different operating regions, while keeping the fuzzy rules and membership functions fixed. The proposed scheme is derived from the detailed analysis of the general dynamics of the drive system, its effectiveness has been verified with experiments using a PM synchronous motor (PMSM) drive system as a testbed, the superiority over the fuzzy controller with fixed parameters has also been demonstrated.
