Afterglow calculation in the Blandford-Lyutikov electromagnetic model of GRBs

Research output: Chapter in Book/Report/Conference proceedingConference contributionpeer-review

Abstract

We compute the afterglow of GRBs produced by electromagnetic outflows as proposed by Lyutikov and Blandford (2003). Using a simple model for the injection of electromagnetic energy to the forward shock we obtain the afterglow evolution both during the period of activity of the central source and after. Our method applies even to a variable central source.
