Abstract
One of the most important applications of artificial intelligence (AI) is in agriculture. In this chapter, the authors propose a method for quantifying the impact of AI on agricultural technological innovation processes. They present the models that serve as a basis for the construction of the quantitative method for identifying these deviations or disruptions. The authors study the interaction between the AI and agricultural technological knowledge bases over the period 2013–2019 at the international level (Orbit Intelligence and PATSTAT patent databases, five main technology markets: the United States, Europe, Japan, China, South Korea). They show that AI is driving a new dynamic of innovation in the agricultural sector, which amounts to a real paradigm shift. The knowledge base of a firm or an industry corresponds to the collective knowledge (with division of labor and coordination) used over a given period of time to achieve the productive objectives of the entity in question.
