Abstract
A new scheme for an all optical integrated half-adder based on UNI (Ultrafast Nonlinear Interferometer) technique is proposed. This half-adder derives directly from a simultaneous XOR/NOTXOR gate based on a UNI gate and a single SOA which we demonstrate at 10 Gbit/s. A difference between our scheme and the traditional UNI structure is the usage of a counter-propagation geometry.
