Abstract
In this paper we introduce a model of the iterative decoding of product codes. For each iteration, an approximation of the bit error rate (BER) at the output of the decoders is used to evaluate the density of the extrinsic information. The decoding thresholds obtained for the additive white Gaussian noise (AWGN) and the Rayleigh fading channel are consistent with the simulation results available in the literature.
