Abstract

This brief report discusses anodization of NbN using a recipe developed for the anodization of Nb. The anodization slowly oxidizes the NbN until the NbN wire diameters are small enough that their conductance is no longer ohmic. This indicates that capacitive defects are dominating the electronic conduction. Ideally, this could be a simple approach to form weak-link Josephson Junctions. Preliminary room temperature IV curves and R(T) measurements of this new system are shown.
