Abstract

Abstract: In this paper, we find a criterion for to remove almost complete transmission of the piston mode from one semi-infinite waveguide to another one through a thin connecting channel in 3D. An asymptotic procedure for fine-tuning of the channel parameter, violation of which leads to almost complete or significant wave reflection, is described. In the case when the waveguides are straight cylinders, the criterion takes a particularly simple form.
