Background-Field Gauges: Adding Quarks and Density

Research output: Chapter in Book/Report/Conference proceedingChapterpeer-review

Abstract

This chapter extends the background field techniques and the use of self-consistent backgrounds to the case of QCD, in the presence of quarks and density. In particular, various useful symmetry identities are derived. It also provides a critical discussion of the various continuum sign problems that appear in the case of finite chemical potential and explains how the background approach needs to be extended in this case.
