Abstract

Benzoxazinones are easily prepared using Passerini-Smiles couplings of o-nitrophenol derivatives. Palladium-catalyzed flow-hydrogenation of adducts gives aniline derivatives that cyclize into benzoxazinones on treatment with trifluoroacetic acid.
