Abstract

The paper presents the design of bow-tie wideband antennas for Continuous Wave terahertz photonic transmitters and their applications. We have optimized two different structures based on the bow-tie antenna concept in coplanar waveguide configuration, suitable for easy integration into a monolithic THz photonic transmitter on GaAs substrate. We have taken into account the impedance characteristics of the photodetector, inserted in series with the antenna as an optically controlled THz generator, as well as strong constraints on isolation from the photodetector DC bias circuit.
