Abstract

In this study we investigate the viability of endothelial cells in porcine corneas after exposure to ultrashort laser pulses under experimental conditions similar to keratoplasty (corneal grafting). Cell death and survival thresholds are determined and compared to estimated amplitudes of the shock waves generated by the laser pulses.
