Abstract
The fluid mechanical disturbances produced due to the presence of a stent within an arterial segment were investigated. Results of computational fluid dynamic simulations showed that the presence of a stent led to flow separation downstream of the stent. Studies also showed that flow pulsatility led to the periodic appearance and disappearance of flow separation zones.
