Abstract

With the intention of design by reuse, configurable process models provide a way to model variability in reference models that need to be configured according to specific needs. As these processes tend to be very large and complex, their configuration becomes an increasingly difficult task. End users need means of support to select desirable configuration choices. In this paper, we propose an automated approach for assisting the configuration of configurable process models. Our objective is to learn from the experience gained through past process modeling and configuration in order to extract configuration guidelines that describe the interrelationships between the frequently selected configurations. The approach is implemented as an extension of Signavio and tested against a shared dataset from the SAP reference model.
