Abstract
Control of pulse duration in a forked two-axis passively Q-switched solid-state laser was demonstrated. The 1.1-mm thick active medium was diode-pumped only on the ordinary path. The Cr4+:YAG saturable absorber was introduced on the extraordinary arm. Results indicated that the use of forked eigenstates permitted continuous behavior control of passively Q-switched lasers.
