abstract = "We analyse the behaviour of a relativistic particle moving under the combined action of a uniform magnetic field and a stationary electrostatic wave given as a series of pulses. We apply to our system a method of chaos control that creates invariant tori in phase space, reducing and confining the chaotic trajectories to small regions. Besides regularizing the system, we show that this method of control is able to improve regular particle acceleration.",
