Abstract

Avidin and streptavidin have virtually identical tertiary and quaternary structures with streptavidin sharing 30% sequence homology with avidin. These two proteins are known to exhibit very similar properties, including for their interaction with biotin. However, streptavidin was used in this work and not avidin. We thus consider it important to change the wording in paragraph 3.3 and in the caption of Figure 10c, where “avidin” must read “streptavidin”: “The interest of the novel interfaces is demonstrated in the analysis of the specific streptavidin–biotin interaction. “ Figure 10 c: SPR monitoring of the binding of streptavidin (10 μg/mL) to biotin-modified Au/a-Si0.63C0.37 (black), and to non-modified Au/ a-Si0.63C0.37 (grey).
