N2 - The ISLS Presidential Session at CSCL 2015 is about Grand Challenges in Technology Enhanced Learning (TEL). The Grand Challenges concept has been discussed in different contexts and across the continents: It helps identify ambitious spaces where we want to venture but which still present obstacles; at the same time, grand challenges are windows into a future that we can shape. Grand challenges are inherently complex; immensely promising; require interdisciplinary approaches; and transcend national and cultural contexts. At the same time, their outcome is risky and presents uncertainty.
