Decoherence-assisted quantum key distribution

Abstract

We study a controllable decoherence-assisted QKD scheme using light's spatial degree of freedom to introduce decoherence in polarization qubits. Our method limits eavesdropper information in BB84 under an entangling probe attack. Experimentally, Alice and Bob achieve low quantum bit error rates despite high decoherence.
