Abstract
In order to shed light on the mechanism of low-field Bose-glass transition, Birr(T) was measured in HII Bi2Sr2CaCu2O8+δ for widely varying track density and oxygen content. In the regime of individual vortex line pinning by columnar defects in a layered superconductor, the upper limit of the transition corresponds to the onset of pancake diffusion between different lines and flux-line entanglement. For both the glass and the vortex liquid phases, only columnar defect sites are available to the pancakes.
