Abstract

The characterization of foetal or adult meniscus and cartilage by Polarization Second Harmonic Generation (P-SHG) and standard SHG is presented. Large differences of structure and collagen fibril orientation are revealed. This work can help the understanding of the structure of meniscal fibrocartilage and articular cartilage and their degeneration processes.
