Abstract

Search Engines are a gateway for information contained on the Web but also in the Enterprise. Members of organizations need to perform various types of searches just to get their routine work done: looking up addresses and references in a directory, finding a specific data or an image for a presentation etc. Search tools have become essential for an organization in order to exploit information stored. However, the solutions are very heterogeneous and vary from the simple open source application to search tool included in the infrastructure. This article aims at analysing the landscape of the search engine business solutions market in terms of structure, actors, products, and segmentation. We try to analyse how the dynamics of the market are evolving, how the solutions in relation to the strategy of the sellers are modified and what are the trends emerging.
