Abstract
In the present work, the enthalpies of formation of Mo-Pt alloys are determined by high temperature direct reaction synthesis calorimetry at 1768 K (Mo6Pt, ε′, MoPt2, and (Pt) solid solution) and 1526 K (MoPt). The following values are reported: Δf H1768 K (Mo6 Pt) = - 13.0 ± 1.9 kJ / mol · at.; Δf H{ring operator} (ε′) = - 26.1 ± 4.9 kJ / mol · at.; Δf H{ring operator} (MoPt) = - 27.7 ± 3.9 kJ / mol · at.; Δf H{ring operator} (MoPt2) = - 36.9 ± 1.8 kJ / mol · at.; Δf H{ring operator} (Pt) = - 27.1 ± 4.2 kJ / mol · at. The results are compared with predicted ab initio data.
