First observation of the K+ → π+νν̄ decay with the NA62 experiment

Abstract

The NA62 experiment at CERN is designed to study the K+ → π+νν̄ decay. After collecting data in 2016, 2017, and 2018, the experiment resumed data taking in 2021 and has received approval for operations until the start of Long Shutdown 3 in 2026. The first observation of the K+ → π+νν̄ decay achieved combining the data collected in 2016-2022 is reported.
