First order corrections to the wave function of a hydrogen atom in an external electromagnetic field: A sturmian expansion

Abstract

The linear response of a hydrogen atom in an external electromagnetic field is considered. Expressions for the lowest order corrections to discrete and continuum wave functions are derived with the help of a sturmian expansion of the Coulomb Green function.
