Abstract
A Ti:sapphire amplifier, producing 20 TW pulses at 10 Hz, has been designed to produce pedestal-free pulses. The amplifier is designed with a broad transmission bandwidth, minimum material path length, high gain and an aberration free system for stretching and recompressing the pulses. The details of the generation of the femtosecond laser pulses using this system are discussed.
