Abstract

3D growth of clusters was studied during the depostion of Au atoms on amorphous Al2O3. Nucleation on substrate defects was shown by comparing transmission electron microscopy images with Monte Carlo Simulations. The results showed that large clusters were more mobile than smaller ones.
