Abstract
An optical tunable filter for wavelength division multiplexing (WDM) applications was proposed. The filter consists of a classical fan Solc stack placed in a ring cavity, with the polarizer outside and the analyzer inside. The optical tunable filter was modeled and its performance was evaluated. Results showed that by taking into account the available liquid crystal technology, good performances can be obtained with only 5 plates.
