Abstract
The nonlinear properties of piezoelectric quantum wells were studied to determine the intersubband transition time from the second (h2) to the first confined heavy hole (h1) state. Pump-probe experiments on CdTe quantum wells were performed using Ti:sapphire laser. For a pump resonant with e1h2 exciton, blueshift of e1h1 transition had risen during pump pulse as holes scattered from h2 to h1 and screened the piezoelectric field more efficiently. The possible contribution of exciton-exciton scattering, acoustic-phonon piezoelectric coupling, scattering from impurities and defects and phonon emissions were also discussed.
