Abstract
The paper focuses on an emerging class of services made possible by the integration of Telecom and Internet functionalities. It is argued that the provision of these services will open a new market opportunity for Network and Service Providers. Internet - Telecom services pose "contradicting" requirements: high specialization for satisfying customer requirements and the need to reuse already developed components that are highly standardized. Requirements could be met by the introduction and the use in the public Telecom network of Middleware based solutions.
