Abstract
An efficient approach to reduce rotational variance in edge orientation estimation is proposed in this paper. A theoretical analysis followed by experimental data is presented. The robustness of the new operator in the presence of noise is evaluated. The edge estimator is then used in a feature recognition application on satellite images and aerial photos.
