Abstract
There are two major problems when it comes to indoor positioning using radio signals: transmitter synchronization, and measurement and positioning accuracy. We propose an approach using dual antennas at the transmitting end (dual-antenna generators) that not only eliminates the need to synchronize transmitters (angle measurements), but also enables us to measure the phase of the signal carrier, thus guaranteeing high quality measurements. In addition, we use satellite navigation signals to make the system compatible with current receivers. Our paper describes the system and the positioning results obtained as a function of transmitter position and measurement noise.
