Abstract

The metal(II)-tetra(4-sulfonatophenyl) porphyrins were effectively interacted with the mesoporous hydroxyapatite surfaces to give brown-colored powders. The adsorption behavior of porphyrins on two hydroxyapatites with different BET surface areas of 235 and 140m2/g and pore size distributions have been investigated in order to study the porphyrin interactions with mesoporous calcium phosphate. It has been demonstrated that the porphyrin retention depends on the surface characteristics of the apatite materials.
