Abstract

The goal of this paper is to improve the determination of a target zone located in a slowly laterally varying background, by jointly inverting PP and PS waves available in prestack time migrated multicomponent data, while taking into account a priori information (well log data, geological knowledge...) in the inversion process: an optimal elastic model is estimated together with an optimal correspondence between PP and PS events. The methodology and results are illustrated on a 2D realistic synthetic example.
