Abstract

A wideband indoor propagation channel sounder with parallel RF chains based on five-port reflectometers is presented in order to measure the Direction Of Arrival (DOA) in azimuth plane and propagation Time Of Arrival (TOA) of coherent UWB signalsl. Low-cost and high-resolution are obtained using a five-port receivers and the MUltiple SIgnal Classification (MUSIC) algorithm. This algorithm is associated with a Spatial Smoothing Pre-processing (SSP) and the frequency domain sounding technique. The receiver operates around 7.25 GHz and covers up to 2.5 GHz. Experimental measurements are performed in an anechoic chamber, the results show errors lower than 0.1 ns in the time domain and of few degrees in the angular domain.
