Abstract
We evaluate the impact on the unemployment duration of a French program consisting in job-search assistance. Specifically, we provide an evaluation of the 2001 French unemployment reform where individual follow-up became systematic and more frequent. Significantly larger amounts of job-search assistance services were provided. We exploit two administrative databases collected by the French unemployment agency. We use a sample extracted from the stock to study the effect of the program on long-term unemployed workers. A sample in the flow is used to evaluate the reform for newly unemployed workers. Our results show that this new program has a positive and significant impact on return to employment.
