Abstract
The paper takes advantage of the double coding of the socio-occupational category (PCS code) available in the C.O.I. survey. One PCS code comes from an employee declaration, the other one from the employer declaration. The sociooccupational category is an indicator of skills. The paper analyzes the factors influencing the convergence of both PCS codes. Therefore it allows to explore what kind of factors determine the classification into an occupational group (executive, middle management, clerk, blue collar). Two kinds of factors are investigated: the first is the work context (firm features and individual features), the second is the work contents (work control, hierarchical authority, contemporary organizations features).
