Abstract
Dichroism at the M4,5 edges of rare-earth ions gives maximum information when both linear and circular polarization of the light are available. At the same time, the required photon energy is better covered by using double-crystal monochromators. We report first examples of combined circular and linear dichroism with soft X-rays using a double-crystal (beryl) monochromator.
