Abstract

The response of vortices to an ac excitation field (∥c) has been investigated in MgB2 single crystals in both linear and non-linear regimes. Those high quality crystals exhibit very weak critical currents: J c(H = 0.1T) ∼ a few 103 A/cm2 at low temperature. The field dependence of Jc is discussed in terms of the collective pinning theory. The Campbell penetration length (deduced from the linear response) varies linearly with H at low field as predicted for intra-valley oscillations for non-interacting vortices.
