Abstract

The JPE -2000 image compression standard is increasingly gaining widespread importance. The rich ariety of features makes it highly suitable for a large spectrum of applications but at the same time its associated complexity makes it hard to optimi e for particular implementations. One the key step during the processing is entropy coding that takes about 0 of the execution time. e propose in this paper a hardware implementation of a dual entropy coder that is used as a coprocessor to the general JPE -2000 flow within an industrial system (ind Ri er SBC40 P platform).
