Abstract
This article examines questions relating to the management of Hospital Information Systems (HIS) and its specific characteristics. Our research is based on a body of interviews conducted with key people - administrative and medical professions - from several Health Care Establishments (HCE) and on analyses carried out in the framework of a working group composed of public institutions, platforms for the dynamic of upgrading HIS. The problems raised by this research concern questions concerning the structuring effects of HIS, the levers of their adoption and usage and how to raise awareness among health organisations about the strategic character of HIS.
