Abstract
The stimulated Brillouin scattering (SBS) reflectivity from a spatially smoothed laser beam in a homogeneous large-scale gas-jet plasma is measured. The dependence of the SBS reflectivity on both the focusing aperture and the incident laser intensity is studied. The experimental SBS thresholds are found to be in good quantitative agreement with theoretical ones obtained from the one-dimensional stochastic convective SBS model.
